UNYSAN held a presentation programme on 16th July, 2011, at UNYSAN conference hall, Baluwatar, Kathmandu, on “Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity.” Presentation was jointly presented by Ms. Usha Bhandari and Ms. Rasmila Manandhar, both the students of Social work of Kathmandu Model College. In their presentation they briefly explain the origin of LGBTI and their interrelation to our culture. More than Thirty Five students from different Colleges, persons related to LGBTI, professor and other were attended on this occasion. Roshan, Secretary of Blue Diamond Society, spoke on various aspects of the issues and problems faced by LGBTI (third gender) he was of the opinion that the society must recognize them and treat them on equal basis with other people. Bhakti, Member of Blue Diamond Society also spoke on the occasion and shed light on the problems of citizenship, she asked that they should receive special citizenship recognizing them as bonafide citizen of Nepal. She further explains how people belonging to LGBTI group are facing problems in the present society. This people feel insulted when people are laugh are them.
